Tackling loneliness in the workplace this World Mental Health Day

This World Mental Health Day, we shine a spotlight on a critical issue affecting workplaces across the UK: loneliness. Research shows that 23% of employees experience loneliness at work, with younger workers and those in leadership roles particularly vulnerable. Loneliness not only affects mental health but also has a significant impact on productivity and job satisfaction. 


Loneliness and its Wider Effects

This white paper, published on 1st February 2024 by Safe New Futures, addresses the modern-day stigma of loneliness, its prevalence, and the severe impact it has on individuals’ physical, mental, and financial health. It highlights that nearly half of UK adults experience loneliness, with those under 30 being the most affected. The paper discusses the societal and health repercussions of loneliness, including increased risks of coronary heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, depression, cognitive decline, and early mortality.
