Tackling loneliness in the workplace this World Mental Health Day

This World Mental Health Day, we shine a spotlight on a critical issue affecting workplaces across the UK: loneliness. Research shows that 23% of employees experience loneliness at work, with younger workers and those in leadership roles particularly vulnerable. Loneliness not only affects mental health but also has a significant impact on productivity and job satisfaction.

Our charity, Safe New Futures, is leading the charge in addressing this issue. Their recent White Paper on Loneliness explores the root causes of workplace isolation and the mental health repercussions that follow. CEO Nina Kelly, along with Peter Taylor from the Hampshire Chamber of Commerce, recently shared their insights in a podcast episode on “Loneliness in the Workplace”, which you can listen to here

To support business leaders in fostering more connected work environments, Safe New Futures is running a one-day workshop on 4th November at Fareham College, in collaboration with the Hampshire Chamber of Commerce. Led by Michael Holbrow from Inspired Leadership Solutions, this workshop will provide practical tools to help managers and team leaders address loneliness and build stronger, more resilient teams.
